WHY DOES MY VAGINA SMELL?! - Dr. Rejuvenation Girl Talk
Hi, I'm Dr. Aimee Nguyen, I'm also known as Dr. Rejuvenation.
A common question that I get asked is my vagina has an odor. Is that normal? It smells. I think every vagina has a natural scent. It's kind of like your own sweat. But if you find that it's a stronger odor or it's different from the norm, then it may be indicative of a vaginal infection, especially if it's accompanied by burning or itching. So you should consult your doctor for sure. You may have a yeast infection. If it's a fishy smell, it may be indicative of a bacterial vaginosis infection, which are both easily treated with antibiotics.
What about how do I make my vagina smell good? So there are some myths out there about pineapple juice or citrus can make things smell sweeter down below. I don't know that there's really any scientific evidence to show that, that's true. But I would say, though, that if you're eating healthier than you, probably it makes sense that things are going to be a little bit more neutral down there. And so if you're finding that that helps, then by all means continue to do it, or if you're finding that you're eating crappy and it smells bad down below, then that may also be a sign that that may be due to diet.
So it's normal to have a natural scent down below, but if it's out of the norm, then you should consult your physician.
