We use the intense light from the Lumenis M22 IPL technology to our advantage! As discussed in your treatment planning session, Dr. Nguyen can implement a personalized plan made specifically for your skin imperfections (sun spots, wrinkles, birthmarks, and more). The Lumenis M22 IPL technology allows you to sit back and relax while the powerful, pulsating light destroys spots and flaws in your facial skin, and induced your skin to naturally produce collagen. You will see an improvement to not only how your skin looks, but also how it feels.

After a numbing cream has been applied to your skin for absorption, our Aesthetic Clinician will pass the Lumenis M22 device gently over your facial skin. This noninvasive treatment should be painless, and you should only feel a warming sensation from the heat. The entire treatment session should take approximately 45 minutes.

Some patients report minor side effects of this treatment, such as mild swelling, flushing, bruising, and sensitivity for 2 – 24 hours after your office visit. If you had the IPL treatment to eliminate freckles or dark spots on your skin, you may notice that the texture of your skin will become very dry in that area, and then flake off. If you feel that you have had a major reaction to this treatment (which is rare), please contact our office immediately.

Your recovery period will be quick! Many of our patients, who have had this treatment, report that they start to see real results in day 2 to day 5 as the skin needs time to repair and heal after IPL treatments. It may also take up to a week to see a difference in the dark areas (lesions, birthmarks, freckles) you had treated. Dr. Nguyen may suggest multiple treatment sessions spread out over a period of time for optimal results.

Some patients only need a single session to see dramatic results in their skin. However, many women will need more than one. It may also be recommended that you have a repeat session once a year to maintain your results.

In the meantime, take care of your skin. Using sunscreen is a must to protect it from the sun's harmful UV rays. The Lumenis IPL treatment will not prevent your skin from showing its age, however, it can help restore some of its natural beauty.
